- 1 pound bulk pork sausage
- 3 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (divided)
- 1 ⅓ cups milk
- 3 large eggs
- ¾ cup biscuit or baking mix
- ¾ teaspoon rubbed sage
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper

1. Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Drain any excess grease.
2. Assemble the Base
Add 2 cups of the shredded cheese to the sausage mixture and stir well. Transfer everything into a greased 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
3. Prepare the Batter
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, biscuit mix, sage, and pepper until smooth.
4. Combine and Bake
Pour the batter evenly over the sausage mixture. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
5. Add the Final Touch
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and return to the oven for 1–2 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
